Family members (present):
Novastar’s mother—unknown.
Novastar’s father—Phantis—is
dead. Phantis was killed by Necrolosis
& many dark jedi.
Novastar’s daughter—Alexandra—who is
10, is studying as an officer and jedi.
Novastar’s wife—Janella—is
dead. Janella was lost in the
destruction of a small space station during a large-scale attack made by
Necrolosis, his Sith team, and his armies.
HISTORY regarding family: Still
only a jedi knight, Greytale Novastar was ordered by Master Zorn Tel-Visshor to
stay behind to lead and to direct the protection effort of a small space
station while Tel-Visshor and Phantis Novastar investigated activity in a
different area of space on an unrelated mission. A few hours into the mission, Greytale lost
all radio contact with Tel-Visshor and his father.
Still young and brazen, Greytale
Novastar became impatient, and grew worried for his father. After attempting several times to make
contact with both masters, he felt that far too much time had passed, and could
no longer control his emotions and feeling of obligation to find out what was
wrong, if anything. His wife pleaded for
him to stay with her, not only for her safety, but in respect for Phantis’
direct orders.
Greytale, completely unfocused on
the base, left his assignment at the space station in order to aid his father
and 2nd master. This was, of
course, a terrible mistake.
Darth Necrolosis—upon detecting
the lack of jedi support at the base via his keen awareness—launched a massive
attack, devastating the space station, and gaining space superiority of the
area. The two Novastars and Tel-Visshor
returned to the base in shock and horror, finding only debris, death and defeat.
Janella—Greytale’s wife—was lost,
along with thousands of officers, pilots and innocents. Few survived, but fortunately, or more
ironically, Greytale Novastar’s young daughter Alexandra was parsecs away—at
school—in training as an officer and as a padawan, completely unaware of the
goings on at the base.
Greytale never revealed to his daughter that it was his emotional error that began the chain of events leading up
to the death of Janella, Alexandra’s mother…
After attending to Greytale’s
period of mourning, it was decided by Phantis and Tel Visshor that Novastar’s
training was to be halted entirely. He
was demoted to jedi learner—a position very few ever held, as they usually
progress from padawan to jedi. For some
years, Greytale remained a “jedi learner”—in this neutral-like limbo—and
resigned himself to aiding only in the training of jedi, base management and
logistics—never for critical missions of
any kind.
Master Phantis, although a wise
and kind jedi—reservedly never forgave his son Greytale for his mistake
in
judgement and emotion, but also too—never had the heart or strength to
tell Alexandra the full details of what had happened to her mother
Janella.
As years progressed, Phantis
Novastar tracked down Necrolosis and pursued him—his mind on his son’s lost
wife and the 1000’s of past lives destroyed long ago. Distracted by such emotion, he too, fell
victim to a trap—and his life was forfeit.
He was overwhelmed by Necrolosis and his team—the many dark jedi in
Episode I, and as fate would have it, Necrolosis struck the final blow, and
Phantis perished.
After Phantis’s death, Greytale’s
training was re-evaluated. Clearly
stronger and more resolute in the foundations of the light side of the Force—also
well-versed now in controlling his emotion—he was promoted to Jedi Master. Continuing to train young jedi, he also began
to take a heavy interest in mission-critical operations.
Master Greytale swore an oath to
find Necrolosis and defeat him “…on his
own stage, on his own terms… but during the moment that I alone shall decide.”. Greytale further swore that he would remain
unfazed by every situation Necrolosis threw his way, and would succeed at every
turn where his father became overwhelmed.
Master Greytale’s “control” of
emotions prove to be a great ally and terrible foe in the saga of “Balance of
Power”.
HISTORY regarding Cael & Sariss: Greytale discovered Cael and Sariss in their
early years, and trained them after his promotion to Jedi Master.
His discovery of them occurred some time
after his father’s murder.
Although
Sariss became a jedi knight before Cael (being Grey’s first student), the two
quickly fell in love during their years of training at the academy.
Greytale, although not against their
relationship, offered no encouragement—fearing that somehow their connection
could force them into making “emotional errors” that could later cost them
their lives.
HISTORY regarding Valaris Skyblade:
Greytale and Skyblade were good friends at the academy, and although
from different planets—trained together and learned from one another.
Both were on their way to becoming a good
team for critical missions in the future, and each was extremely enthusiastic
about making a difference for their cause.
After Greytale made his horrible
mistake, he withdrew from friendships—even his strong bonds with Valaris.
Valaris continued his training, becoming a
strong and powerful Jedi Guardian.
Out
of respect for the Novastar family, who had been integral in his relocation to
be trained as a jedi from the beginning—Skyblade swore that when the time came,
he would follow Greytale on any mission to defeat Necrolosis and his Sith—or
die trying.
SIHDAESTRA TYRANIUS -- The Dark Female Apprentice
(Siah Elsbury)
Siah Elsbury... has
been having a great time being a part of this project. It has
given her a place to play with the skills she's picked up in what seems
like a separate lifetime in which she studied Shaolin Kempo and trained
with a martial arts based stunt team in Denver, CO. Siah
currently breaks the bonds of the sword shop and the jazz club in which
she works whenever possible to study aerial circus arts, poi spinning,
and burlesque dance. She also keeps herself busy developing
unique acts to take the stage and writing scripts for original graphic
novels.

Sihdaestra is what some would call a soul drain or a psychic
vampire. She forms a mental and spiritual bond with her foe and
feeds off of their energy. This naturally depletes their life
force, making them weaker and easier to destroy. Particularly
intoxicating to her are the negative emotions such as fear, anger, and
hatred. Sihdaestra tends to enjoy "toying" and "playing" with her
victim until she grows bored of it. This is her greatest
strength, and her worst foe.
Necrolosis scorns her overly-indirect methods--for not going in for the
kill soon enough. But that is not the style that most behooves
Sihdaestra Tyranius, the dark force witch. To her, it is much
more fun to taunt and play with her prey--she finds it a shameful pity
to slay even one of them. So much more fun it is to torment
them until they simply drop dead from painful exhaustion.
In her youth, Sihdaestra had a gift for reaching into people's minds
and clouding their thoughts. In fact her newest hobby was to
climb desperately deep into the mind of her foe--pushing them out of
their own body & soul almost completely... but allowing them to
hang on by just a finger. Only then would she take over.
Manipulating the weak-minded in ways they won't allow themselves to go
and making them do what they think is deplorable and debasing.
Then she allows them the rush of feeling the mind-control disappear,
and allow them back into "themselves". Then, happily--Sihdaestra
savors the horror and confusion that floods their simple little
minds. Of course she repeats the process until she's pushed them
beyond the edge of sanity. It is delicious to her, devious, twisted and
evil.
There are however some minds she cannot penetrate, which brings us to
Sariss. She was the first Sihdaestra ever knew who she could not
influence. Sihdaestra's parents were both murdered in early wars
and as luck or irony would have it--she was adopted by the jedi
academy! Early on someone (likely Tel-Visshor) recognised
Sihdaestra's psychic skills, so she ended up trained as a jedi so that
she would hone her abilities more "correctly". To Sihdaestra,
this proves mindlessly laughable now!

At 9 years old, Sihdaestra felt that she was more powerful than just
about everyone at the Jedi academy, including the masters. She
had them all eating out of her hand... until "she" came. Little
Sariss. Sihdaestra couldn't make her dance the way she was able
to make the rest of them move like marionettes. To Sihdaestra,
the snitch woke them up to what I was doing. As if poor
Sihdaestra could help it? She did what came naturally. And
as if that wasn't enough, Sariss proved to outshine Sihdaestra in every
way, adding insult to injury. To Sihdaestra, it was as if Sariss
saw her weaknesses more clearly and sooner than she could herself...
and would concentrate on shining in the very places that Sihdaestra was
weak.
Young Sihdaestra became angered, and often physically hurt other young
jedi at the academy to quell her hatred of Sariss. She was
punished, and often restricted from training. Tel-Visshor became
worried about her--but it was too late...
After years of such humilations and probationary restrictions being
placed on Sihdaestra, she ran off--barely 17--and joined the first
evil, yet powerful influence she could find. Necrolosis was happy
to oblige her--allowing a creative and exciting release for her twisted
mind!
Yet... Sihdaestra has not forgotten nor has she forgiven. This
time Sihdaestra plans to GET little Sariss, that priss! The light
and dark factions are about to clash--and finishing her will be
Sihdaestra's prize...
In her own words: "If I can't off her of my own accord I will destroy
those she cares for one by one until her grief is unbearable!
What's more is I don't think Necrolosis has even a hint of a clue
regarding just what I've been working on for HIS untimely demise.
All in good time! When Necrolosis gets what he wants...which just
happens to be what
I want... then
nothing will get in my way! I shall rule forevermore!"
MAELSCARM DAIS -- The Dark Renegade
(Charles Jeske)
Son of unknown, or
forgotten. Dais was born on a trader frigot. He lived most of his youth
on trade ships, frigots, stations, and basically any where else small
and cramped. In this day of his life, he rarely goes purposefully to a
planet's surface. Unless seen from afar, planets are just too big for
him. He prefers to do his business on either ships or stations. There,
he can keep a mindfull eye on his own world's boundaries.
However, when business insists, he'll go where ever necessary. He just
prefers to stay indoors, underground, or where ever the path he can
take is covered. Being under the open sky gives him the creeping
feeling of being "upside down all the time" Or a sense he may
spontainiously fly off into space.
The business Dais partakes in, is profit through force or skill. He is
most well known as a bounty hunter. However, he'll do just about
anything for profit. He'll kill anyone or anything for the right price.
At the same time, save anything or any one for the right price. He'll
protect, destroy, smuggle, guard, kill or rescue anything for the right
price. To a degree. Dais doesn't believe in finishing a contract no
matter what. Especially if he sees his own imenant destruction as its
conclusion.
Dais has a side arm attached to his hip. He's carried it through out
his profesional career. However, there is no trigger to the piece. It
hasn't been in working order for years. He still carries it though. For
balance he believes. He feels his left side is too light without it.
And for sentimental reasons. It was his first "Aquirement". Dais has
the odd habit of collecting bits of armor, weapons, or whatever, from
those he's been hired to dispatch.
He does have his favorite weapon though. The light saber. Dais does
have the skill many would associate with the jedi. However, his prowess
with the "Force" is a bit cruder than others who have studied it with
more dedication.
Dais was in fact, apprenticed to a jedi. Master Phantis Novastar had
first come across a much younger Dais while traveling through a port
station. The Master Jedicould easily feel the force being manipulated
by the young man sitting down and staring intently at a wall. Curious,
Master Phantis Novastar asked the young man what he was doing.
Dais had told the traveler "If i sit here long enough and concentrate,
I can see whats happening on the other side of these walls. Staring at
walls is pretty much the only thing to do on space stations, traders. .
. .Frigots. . . . . .
Seeing the potential, Master Phantis Novastar offered Dais a broader,
more dynamic world than what he was used to. And so, Dais' journey to
what he would become began. Dais had stayed with master Phantis
Novastar For several years. Learning intently, doing as he was told. He
wasn't the fastest learner, or the brightest acolade, but he showed
skill and promise.
Dais however, would never become a jedi. He wasn't seduced by the dark
side perse'. He just decided one day to leave. And so, he did. One
particular hour in the seeming night. Dais got up from his beding,
looked at his sleeping Master, then starting staring at where he,
himself was once resting. He mentally impressed himself back in the
bed. Convincing himself he never got up, that he was sleeping all
along. When he convinced himself he never got up, he just started
walking backwards, out the door, down the hall, towards the berths,
onto a ship, sat down, and left.
He didn't want Master Phantis Novastar to sense his leaving. He felt
this was the technique to try to keep his master from coming after him
until it was too late.
Dais liked his master well enough. But the way of the Jedi just wasn't
for him. All that "Don't give in to temptation, emotion, fear" blah
blah blah. However, Dais had quickly learned, that without his master,
there was no food or lodging easily had either. Dais didn't like using
the "Old Jedi Mind Trick" to get what he needed. It made him feel
guilty. He did learn though, that he could use his new talents to
assist him getting certain "Jobs" done. His unique talents and
efficiency earned him broader and more subversive contracts. And thus,
Dais became what he was.
Although versed in the Force, his training is still limited. And he's
come to his own conlcusions on how the force should work. Once he's
aquired site of his target, he'll get nervous stalking it. As if
staring at it sends a signal to his subject. And so, He has a tendancy
to track his subjects while walking backwards. Sometimes, for days.
Dais doesn't consider himself "Evil" Or a sith, or a dark jedi, or
anything. He's Dais, Force user for hire. At least, that is what he
considered himself to be until one fatefull meeting.
Dais had been aproached by agents who were under the employ of a person
"With vast resources and gains". This would be employer had heard of
the exploits of Dais, and had a job for him. Little did Dais know, that
this would be his last employer. And the job he would take would never
end.
Dais had come to the court of Darth Necrolosis. Dais was offered power,
riches, influence, all he could ever dream or want. He only needed to
swear his servitude to Darth Necrolosis and none other. Dais at first,
refused. Working for only one, and no other didn't suit him at all.
Darth Necrolosis pulled himself up, stared out to Dais and let him know
"There is no choice to be made in this matter" Darth Necrolosis must've
been very persuasive, because Dais believed him when he said it.
Now, Dais Serves Darth Necrolosis. Darth Necrolosis may have Dais under
his mental control. Then again, he may not. It doesn't matter. Whats
important, is what Dais believes.
